What do you get when you take a group of high-spirited TC Christian students nearing their summer break, put a variety of yard implements in their hands, and set them loose on oceans of leaves and winter yard debris? Well, we can’t speak for what you might get but what Single MOMM got was a huge blessing!
The entire TC Christian Middle and High school recently shut down for the day and embarked on a day of backyard spring cleaning. Fanning out across Grand Traverse County, the students and their drivers/chaperones went to the homes of various single mothers (whose names had been supplied by the Single MOM Ministry) and took care of getting their yards ready for summer. It was a true labor of love and opened the door for some relationship building as many of the moms came outside to join the students and spend time together. As one leader wrote, “Watching our girls interact with our single mom and her littler girl was precious”.
There were life lessons to be learned, too. For example, did you know that the best way to open paper leaf bags is to put them over your head and push the bag out with your arms? It was a wonderful day and there were lots of smiles, hugs, and fellowship enjoyed by everyone. One neighbor of a mom extended a hearty thumbs-up to say thanks, reminding everyone involved that the witness of the blessing is often noticed and felt well beyond the person being blessed. You can catch a few of the day’s pictures here.
