Faith and Life: Putting Faith Into Action

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  James 2:17

As part of their graduation requirements, TC Christian Middle School and High School students are required to give a minimum of 12 hours of voluntary service to the school and the community during each year.  We call this Faith and Life.  Also known as F&L, these times of service allow our students to reflect on how Christian faith is related to different dimensions of everyday life.

F&L hours are to be used towards efforts that glorify God and that are in line with the mission of Traverse City Christian School.  Examples of F&L hours that count towards graduation include volunteering at church, at a community mission (e.g. Safe Harbor, Single Mom Ministries, Father Fred, etc.), at TCCS, and so on.

All completed projects must be properly documented and submitted to class advisors during the year in which they are completed in order to receive credit.  Volunteer work completed the summer before a student enters TC Christian high school is not eligible for credit.  TCCS-sponsored mission trips also do not count towards ‘Faith and Life’ time.  All F&L service hours must be completed by the end of the first semester of the senior year.

Two credits are awarded toward a TC Christian diploma for completion of the ‘Faith and Life’ graduation requirement.  A special Community Service award is presented at graduation to the senior who has logged the most F&L hours over their time at TCCS.
