What do you teach / do at TC Christian?
I co-teach 4th grade, as well as 6th grade ELA
What do you enjoy most about working with students?
Teaching is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs! I love building relationships with my students and seeing them learn and grow in so many ways!
How do you incorporate a Christian Worldview at TC Christian?
Being a public school teacher for so many years, it’s so nice to be able to vocalize my faith and be able to weave it into my teaching. I love starting the day with prayer, as well as pointing to God’s creation, power, and love in our lessons. Our school has nine main Biblical Throughlines that I work hard to incorporate throughout our everyday learning.
What unique experience, talent, or interest do you bring to your role to help shape the experience of students and their families?
I have a love and passion for reading! We can learn so much and open our world just by opening a book. My passion and love for reading extends in many aspects of my teaching and I love to share this love with all of my students.
What would students be surprised to find out about you?
Students may be surprised to know that I’ve traveled to many places including England, Spain, and Hong Kong.
How do you spend your summer breaks?
I spend my summers spending as much time with my family as possible including many beach days, reading a lot of books, climbing the dunes, and eating a lot of ice cream!
What school sport or activity do you enjoy watching?
I love watching basketball, volleyball and listening to concerts.
What is your favorite bible verse?
There are so many! Isaiah 43:2- When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. Romans 12:12- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Psalm 46:1- God is our refuge and strength, an ever- present help in trouble.
If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
Love God and love others- These are the two things we are called to do, so do you best to do them well.
In which other teacher’s class would you like to enroll, even for a day and why?
I would love to be in Mrs. K’s 2nd grade class. She makes learning fun and exciting and has a love and passion for reading and writing!
