Thanks From DeVos Children’s Hospital

In early October, Traverse City Christian School hosted an unforgettable “Sophie Strong” night during the annual homecoming volleyball games, drawing a huge crowd of TCCS families and visitors, all donning orange and pink to honor Sophie Stanton. Sophie was a beloved TCCS student who died following a brave battle against cancer.

The event was a powerful testament to love, respect, and honor, blending fierce competition with a shared commitment to faith and community. When all was said and done, the teams raised $1,600 for PORT (Pediatric Oncology Resource Team at DeVos Children’s Hospital) to equip four “dream rooms” for children facing long-term, life-threatening treatments. This was a cause deeply personal to the Stanton family, who were profoundly moved by their own dream room experience.

This week, we received a lovely letter from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital acknowledging the gift and thanking everyone for their support. A huge ‘Attaboy! to everyone involved. Your collective hearts to love and support children who need encouragement demonstrates one of TC Christian’s Core Value –  Authentic Biblical Community. You brought honor to the Lord and to Sophie’s memory.
