At the heart of ‘Sophie Strong’ night at Homecoming last week, a powerful image captured the JV and Varsity teams from Traverse City Christian School and Lake Leelanau St. Mary standing united in vibrant pink t-shirts, a poignant tribute to Sophie Stanton’s inspiring life. The Lady Sabres had printed pink t-shirts for their teams and supporters, with all proceeds benefiting PORT at DeVos Children’s Hospital, but in a beautiful display of solidarity, Lake Leelanau St. Mary, unbeknownst to TCCS, took it upon themselves to also print pink shirts for their teams who, despite never meeting Sophie, were moved deeply by her story. Their team further contributed over $200 to the PORT fund, embodying the love and unity of the Body of Christ, as John 13:35 declares, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” This heartfelt gesture showcased the profound unity and compassion between rival teams, making the night a true testament to faith and community.
