An Impossible True Story Comes To TC

| March 20, 2019

After drowning and being declared dead for almost an hour, a boy comes back to life when his mother begins to pray.  Breakthrough relives the terrifying moments that happened on Martin Luther King Day in 2015 in St. Charles County, MO, when John Smith (14 years old) went out with two friends onto the partially frozen surface of a lake and fell through the ice.  John was underwater for 15 minutes and was without a heartbeat for almost an hour.  His survival is an incredible story of God’s answer to prayer.  Breakthrough goes on nationwide release in time for Easter (April 17). You can watch the trailer here.

(L to R) Jason Noble, John Smith, Joyce Smith

On April 6, there will be a meet-and-greet with the real John Smith and Jason Noble, the pastor who walked with the Smith family through their ordeal, at Living Hope Church in Traverse City.  This is a youth event geared towards Middle and High school students. It is an opportunity to meet John Smith and hear his amazing testimony that inspired the movie “Breakthrough”. John will share about growing up in the church and how his near-death experience changed his life. The event will start with live music by the Revolution Band, and root-beer floats and sundaes will be available afterward as students have time to meet John personally. Tickets to the premiere will be given away to lucky winners!

This would be an excellent experience for your teens and their friends.  It’s a free, community-wide event and seating is limited.  You can reserve your tickets here.
